Welcome to Better In Every Way.
The site is aimed at supporting those who are interested in understanding more about how to control the dreaded middle age spread, but who also still want to enjoy food while losing weight. Hopefully good tasting food and drink doesnt have to be the victim of a happy lifestyle.
The Low GI diet is in two stages; firstly you reduce your weight, and then you keep it in check by healthy eating. The diet itself is described in the book by The New High Protein Diet: Lose Weight Quickly, Easily and Permanently- Dr C Clark. This is a Sunday morning read and not too hard going. There are plenty of other books on Amazon that also describe the GI diets.

If you suddenly go from your usual food intake down to a very strict at most 55 carbs/ day as dictated by the diet and then you have a break, and put a few pounds back on, you will find that the diet is not as effective the second time round and the number of carbs will have to be reduced further. So if you are in good health, and have checked with your diet with your doctor dont play around to much with breaking the rules. Get on it and stay on it until you have reached your initial target. Do moderate exercise and if you do take a moderate break between, which I suspect most people do without going to excxess, then get down to your correct BMI.
Different people have subtely different medical needs and we would advise that you review your plan with your doctor. This site does not provide any form of advice

When you get on this diet you will find that cake and sweets taste quite sugary. They are of course forbidden from the first part of the diet. But that doesnt mean to say you should never again appreciate a home made piece of cake. Just enjoy in occassional and wel deserved moderation. :) |
